Congratulations on Your Thread Lift

You’ve taken an important step toward aging on your own terms with a thread lift with no surgery, no scars, and minimal downtime. Your results are influenced not only by the procedure itself but also by how you care for your skin afterward.

Why Aftercare Matters

Thread lifts are minimally invasive, but post-procedure care is essential to optimize healing, reduce swelling, and maintain long-term results. Following proper aftercare can also minimize complications and ensure your lift settles naturally.

What to Expect After a Thread Lift

Immediately following your procedure, it is normal to experience:

  • Mild to moderate swelling, especially in the cheeks and jaw
  • Tenderness or tightness when smiling or talking
  • Small puckering or dimpling at entry points, which usually resolves quickly
  • Bruising, which may appear immediately or the following day
  • A tugging sensation as the threads settle

Most swelling and tenderness improve within a few days, and most patients are “camera-ready” within two weeks

First 24–48 Hours – Protect the Lift

  • Apply cold compresses gently to reduce swelling. Avoid pressing on the treated areas.
  • Minimize facial movement, including talking, laughing, or wide expressions.
  • Sleep on your back, elevated with pillows to reduce pressure on the face.
  • Eat soft, warm foods to limit jaw movement if the jawline or lips were treated.
  • Avoid alcohol, smoking, or using straws to support optimal circulation and healing.

Days 3–7 – Gentle Care

  • Shower and wash your face carefully, avoiding rubbing, stretching, or splashing water directly on threads.
  • Avoid makeup for 3–5 days, or until puncture points have fully closed.
  • Avoid strenuous activity, yoga inversions, or exercises that increase facial strain; gentle walking is acceptable.
  • Support your face during sneezing, coughing, or laughter to prevent tension on the threads.

Week 2 and Beyond – Healing and Maintenance

  • Avoid facials, massages, or waxing on the face for three weeks.
  • Delay hair coloring near the hairline or scalp for at least three weeks if threads were placed in those areas.
  • Resume shaving carefully around Day 10, avoiding tugging or excessive movement until four weeks post-procedure.
  • Most patients can resume regular exercise around Day 14. Confirm with our team if you are unsure.

Long-Term Care – Maintain Your Results

Threads continue to stimulate collagen over time, with results often improving at the 2–3 month mark. Maintain your lift with:

  • Collagen-stimulating treatments such as microneedling, Scarlet RF, or Sculptra
  • A medical-grade skincare regimen that includes vitamin C, retinoids, peptides, and daily SPF 50
