How Long Do Filler Injections Last?
Hi everyone! I’m Dr. Erin Lucie, owner of Luminate Clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’m thrilled to share my passion for facial aesthetics and my expertise in filler injections with you. With a background in studio art, injecting fillers is now considered my art form, creating balance and beauty in both men and women. I also hold an esthetician’s license and have extensive training in face shapes and anatomy to ensure the best results.
What Are Fillers?
Fillers are amazing tools that can help restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance your natural beauty. Now, I love to combine fillers with Aquafirme- XS Facials and Skin Tightening and Resurfacing for a full treatment plan, but let’s dive into fillers specifically. At Luminate Clinic, we use several types of fillers, each with unique properties to achieve specific results. Think of fillers as different paints and my syringe as the paintbrush; each filler is chosen carefully to match the needs of your skin and your aesthetic goals.
Types of Fillers We Use
1. Cellenis Derma PRP
Cellenis Derma PRP is one of my favorites. It’s not just a filler; it’s both biostimulatory and regenerative. This means it not only increases collagen but also helps regrow your tissue. This is a huge benefit for those starting to see a loss in volume and skin tightening. I have this in my temples! Cellenis Derma PRP involves using your own blood to rejuvenate your skin. We draw a small amount of blood, process it to concentrate the platelets, and then inject this Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) back into your skin. PRP is packed with growth factors that stimulate collagen production and tissue regeneration, giving your skin a natural, youthful glow. This process not only enhances the effects of fillers but also promotes overall skin health and rejuvenation.
2. Bellafill
Bellafill is a unique filler that provides long-lasting results. It’s made of tiny microspheres that are suspended in a smooth gel. These microspheres stimulate your body’s own collagen production, leading to natural-looking and long-lasting results. Bellafill is great for correcting smile lines and acne scars, and it can last up to 5 years! I have this in my cheeks, and my husbands cheeks and my sisters cheeks, and hundreds of patients. It is definitely my go to for those that love the way I inject them and want it to last.
3. Sculptra
Sculptra is another biostimulatory filler that works by stimulating collagen production. Unlike other fillers that provide immediate results, Sculptra works gradually, giving you a natural look over time. It’s perfect for those who want subtle, long-lasting improvements. Sculptra can last over 2 years, making it a great option for those looking for a longer-term solution. We typically do Sculptra in a series of five vials; two now, two in four weeks and one in eight-12 weeks, then one vial once a year. Also works great for those doing a Scarlet or TempSure Skin Tightening series.
4. Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers are natural gel fillers that come in various brands and consistencies. These fillers are versatile and can be used in different areas of the face, such as the lips, cheeks, jawline, and nasal folds. The firmness and flexibility of the HA filler are chosen based on the area being treated to ensure the best results. For example, I use a firmer filler for the cheeks and jawline and a softer, more flexible filler for the lips and around the nose. Perfect for “chasing lines” like the barcode lines or “smokers lines” around the mouth. I personally have HA filler in my lips and chin.
How Long Do Fillers Last?
The duration of fillers can vary based on the type of filler used and the area treated. Here’s a visual chart to help you understand how long each type of filler typically lasts:
Filler Type | Duration |
---|---|
Cellenis Derma (PRP) | 9-12 months |
Bellafill (PMMA/Bovine) | Up to 5 years |
Sculptra (PLLA) | Over 2 years |
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) | 6-18 months (depending on the brand and area treated) |
