IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial Aftercare Guide

After your treatment, it’s normal to experience some mild sensations like a sunburn, along with slight swelling and redness in the treated area. These are common side effects that typically subside within a few hours to a few days. Proper aftercare is essential to promote healing and enhance the results of your treatment. Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure a smooth recovery process.

  • Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, but usually resolves in 2-5 days.
  • A cool pack (not frozen) may be used on the treatment area for 10 to 15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours, as needed.
  • The first five days following treatment or until redness has completely resolved, avoid all of the following:
    • Activities that cause excessive perspiration.
    • Swimming, especially in pools with chemicals, such as chlorine. Hot tubs and jacuzzis.
    • Do not have electrolysis, facial waxing, and/or depilatories for 14 days after.
    • Prevent trauma to the treated site.
    • Avoid hot baths, massage, and exercising.
  • If scabs appear after blistering, they should be kept soft with a lubricating ointment like Aquaphor.
